1. Definitions
"We", "Us", "Our" refers to Marple Bike Box Hire Limited.
"You", "Your", "Hirer" refers to the person or company hiring the bike box.
"Bike Box" means the bicycle transport case provided by us under this agreement.
"Hire Period" refers to the agreed dates of hire from collection/delivery to return.
"Agreement" refers to the hire contract governed by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Booking and Payment
- All bookings must be made directly through us.
- A full payment is required at the time of booking to secure the hire.
- Payment can be made via our online platform Xero, or directly via bank transfer.
- We reserve the right to decline or cancel any booking.
3. Identification
- Upon collection of the bike box, you must provide an official identification document with proof of address, such as driving licence or passport along with a utility bill.
4. Hire Period
- The standard hire period runs from the collection date to the return date as agreed at the time of booking
- Late returns may incur additional daily charges of £20.00 per day. If the return of the bike box leads to the cancellation of a further booking then we reserve the right to charge the full cost of the cancelled booking to you.
- Extensions to the hire period may be granted subject to availability and must be arranged in advance or communicated during the hire period.
5. Collection and Return
- Boxes can be collected from and returned to our premises at 79 Dale Road, Marple, SK6 6NL at agreed times
- You are responsible for checking the box on collection and reporting any pre-existing damage.
6. Hirer’s Responsibilities
By hiring a bike box, you agree to:
- Use the box for its intended purpose only, which is transporting bicycles. It must not be used to transport any other equipment whatsoever.
- Follow all packing and usage instructions provided.
- Keep the bike box clean and in good condition.
- Return the box in the same condition as received (allowing for reasonable fair wear and tear).
- Report any damage or loss immediately.
- Not lend, sub-hire, or allow unauthorised use of the box.
7. Damage, Loss, or Theft
- You are liable for any loss, theft, or damage to the box during the hire period howsoever caused.
- If the bike box is lost or stolen or damaged which renders it, in our opinion, unsuitable for future hire, whilst in your possession, you will be required to immediately pay the full cost of the bike box to us. An invoice will be provided. This sum must be paid within a period of 14 days from the end of the hire period.
- Charges for repairs or replacement may be invoiced separately after consultation with the manufacturer.
- A Damage Waiver is available to reduce your liability for any damage to latches, foam and wheels only. Please see our separate Damage Waiver Policy.
- If you fail to return the associated packing materials, including foam, pipe insulation or the bag, then we reserve the right to charge a £10.00 fee to cover the cost of replacements.
- If you suspect that any damage has been caused by the airline or within the airport then we recommend that you speak with an airline or airport representative prior to leaving the Airport or your claim may be dismissed.
8. Cancellations and Refunds
- Cancellations made:
- 14+ days before hire: Full refund
- 7–13 days before hire: 50% refund
- Less than 7 days: No refund
- If we cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued.
9. Liability and Ownership
- We are not responsible for:
- Damage to bicycles or contents transported in the bike box. It remains your duty to ensure that the bicycle is correctly packed within the box.
- Missed flights, delays, or costs incurred due to late delivery or issues with the bike box.
- Throughout the period of hire, the box remains in our ownership. When the bike box is in your possession it becomes your responsibility if it is damaged, lost or stolen.
10. Insurance
- We recommend you take out suitable travel insurance that covers:
- Bicycle transport
- The Bike Box
- Loss or damage to your equipment
- Delays or cancellations
- Our Damage Waiver
11. Data Protection
- We collect and process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy
- Your data will never be sold or shared with third parties without your consent.
- Your identification document will be deleted when the bike box is returned.
12. Governing Law
- These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
