The Triathlon Aero Easyfit is suitable for road, mountain, gravel and TT bikes. All triathlon and road bikes fit. If the TT handlebar or road handlebars are integrated and can’t be dismantled then this is certainly the right bike box to choose, or if you simply want to removal minimal components from your bike.
The Premium will hold most road bikes with the handlebars removed and with 25mm tyres deflated. Triathlon bikes will only fit with the handlebars removed. Wheels with tyres more than 25mm need to have the tyre removed.
The simple answer is YES, however, we've included some more technical information below.
If you have a Triathlon Bike or the latest generation of Aero road bikes, particularly those with integrated handlebars, with or without hydraulic disc brakes, generally all you only need to remove, is the wheels and pedals! (Nb - please see below)
So if the TT handlebar or Road handlebar assembly can’t be dismantled. Or if you simply want the absolute minimum of component removal, then this is absolutely the bike box for you.
The Easyfit is also designed for regular Road bikes, the larger ENDURO Mountain Bikes, Gravel, and Cyclocross bikes, plus some types of Touring bikes. Depending on your size, and therefore your bike, please see the below guide:
The Premium will hold most road bikes with the handlebars removed and with 25mm tyres deflated. Triathlon bikes will only fit with the handlebars removed. Wheels with tyres more than 25mm need to have the tyre removed. This box is not suitable for bikes with integrated handlebars. If you do not wish, or cannot, remove the handlebars then please see the Aero Triathlon Easyfit. Please see the separate page for further detail about mountain bikes fitting in the box.
If you are taller and have a larger frame then you may need to remove the seat post and rear mech to fit the bike within this box.
All our boxes are to be collected from our base in Dale Road, Marple. We will share the full address once you have made your booking. During collection, we provide a full tutorial on packing the bike box and answer any questions that you may have.
We are flexible on collection times and will arrange this to suit both parties.
Yes, we require a £250.00 refundable deposit before the bike box is collected. This isn’t required to be sent when the booking is made but must be received to allow the bike box to be released.
We accept that there may be marks and scuffs caused to the box from being transported by an airline. We class this as normal wear and tear and part of our business model.
The deposit is to cover:-
a. The bike box being stolen/not returned (albeit this amount wouldn’t cover the cost to re-purchase). This is the fundamental reason for it.
b. The box being cracked or severely damaged so that we can no longer use it. This would result in the deposit being withheld and the customer making a claim for the cost with their holiday insurers.
c. A hirer damaging the foam, clasps or the box, through a failure to pack properly or not returning our additional packing materials, however, we wouldn’t withhold the full deposit in this scenario and only a proportion to cover the replacement cost.
Yes, we require a copy of your ID with proof of address, preferably driving licence, before the bike box is collected.
If the airline damage the box during transit, then we would recommend that this is immediately reported to the airline before the hirer leaves the airport to enable them to make a claim from them. If this is unsuccessful, then their insurance will likely cover the damage. We will require the immediate payment of the full retail purchase cost of the bike box.
We will support any claim by providing any relevant documentation required. We will withhold the £250.00 deposit until the payment for the box is completed.
In the unfortunate circumstance, that the bike box is lost or stolen, then in accordance with the terms and conditions, we will require the immediate payment of the full retail purchase cost of the bike box.
You may make a claim with your insurers for the cost and we will help support you with this claim.
We accept no liability or responsibility for any damage to your bike whilst it is packed and transported in any of our bike boxes.
We are happy to consider extending a hire period where availability allows. Where an extension is agreed, the daily rate for the box is charged and we may agree to deduct the cost from the refundable deposit. However, where an extension is not possible, for example, because the box is re-booked with another customer, then you will be liable for a late return fee of £20.00 per day which we will deduct from the deposit. If the return of the bike box leads to the cancellation of a further booking then Marple Bike Box reserve the right to deduct the full cost of the cancelled booking from you which may be deducted from the deposit.
In this scenario, we will require a payment of £10.00 which we will deduct from the deposit.
In this scenario, you agree that we will deduct a fee equivalent to the cost replacement foam from the refundable deposit. This is usually In the region of £30.00 to £60.00. We will provide evidence of the replacement cost.
Yes, we certainly do. Please just let us know when you order if you require one of these and we will ensure that it is provided.
A bike box allows you to take your favourite bike with you on holiday. This provides confidence in handling on roads that you do not know. It also ensures that you’ll be riding a bike that fits you and you will have maintained.
A bike box provides the highest level of protection, preventing your bike being harmed by knocks, shocks and punctures on a plane and during transportation. Our boxes have dedicated areas to protect wheels and they also provide additional space to store equipment, such as shoes, helmet etc.
Yes, as part of your booking, we provide a black bag of protective equipment for your bike and the box. This includes, blanket protection for the cassette, hubs and discs, bubble wrap, plumbers foam for the frame and additional foam for around the handlebars.
Yes, we can hire out 2xTSA locks at a cost of £5.00 for your trip away. These ensure that your bike box remains firmly locked and secured. If you would like to hire these then please simply let us know when you book or before collection.
Yes, airlines require you to pay an additional fee for taking sporting equipment away, however, in our experience the cost of taking a bike box on a plane is significantly cheaper than renting a bike. in addition, you get to ride around on your favourite two wheels
Our bike boxes fit in the majority of cars but we do highly recommend that you check the measurements of the box to make sure it fits before collection. Our experience is that saloon cars with a lower boot floor to the boot lip can be problematic.
