1. Overview

This Damage Waiver Policy ("Policy") sets out the terms and conditions under which Marple Bike Box Hire Limited ("we", "our", or "us") provides an optional damage waiver to customers ("you" or "the Hirer") when hiring bike boxes from us.

The purpose of the Damage Waiver is to reduce the Hirer’s financial liability for accidental damage to the hired bike box during the hire period, subject to the terms below.

2. What is the Damage Waiver?

The Damage Waiver is an optional, non-refundable payment that, if purchased, limits the Hirer's responsibility for repair or replacement costs arising from accidental damage to the latches, wheels and foam on a hired bike box during the hire term. 

The Damage Waiver only applies to these 3 items (latches, wheels and foam). Any other loss, theft or damage is not covered by the Damage Waiver and is dealt with as per the Terms and Conditions of hire

Fee: £10.00 per hire period

3. What the Damage Waiver Covers

If purchased, the Damage Waiver covers:

• Minor functional damage to the latches, foam or wheels that does not render the bike box unusable
• General wear and tear from normal use during transport

If the waiver is taken out then we expect the hirer to still treat these items with the utmost respect. 

4. What the Damage Waiver Does Not Cover

The Damage Waiver does not cover:

• Loss or theft of the bike box
• Negligent, reckless, or intentional damage.
• Any damage caused to the box such as puncture holes, cracks or similar. 
• Damage caused by improper packing or use of the bike box
• Damage incurred while in transit if due to improper securing or handling
• Water damage from exposure to rain or immersion
• Any damage not reported within 24 hours of occurrence or return

In these cases, the Hirer will be liable for the full cost of repair or replacement, as determined by Marple Bike Box Hire Limited and in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

5. Damage Reporting Requirements

All damage to the foam, wheels or clasps, regardless of severity, must be reported to us within 24 hours of discovery or upon return of the box. Failure to report damage in this timeframe may void the waiver.

6. Hirer’s Responsibilities

The Hirer agrees to:

• Use the box for its intended purpose only, which is transporting bicycles. It must not be used to transport any other equipment whatsoever. 
• Follow all packing and usage instructions provided.
• Keep the bike box clean and in good condition.
• Return the box in the same condition as received (allowing for reasonable fair wear and tear).
• Report any damage or loss immediately.
• Not lend, sub-hire, or allow unauthorised use of the box.

7. Replacement and Repair Costs (Without Waiver)

Without the Damage Waiver, the Hirer is fully responsible for all repair or replacement costs to the foam, clasps or wheels as follows:

• £40.00 for damaged foam which renders it no longer suitable for use
• £10.00 for each damaged clasp
• £10.00 for each damaged wheel

8. How to Purchase the Damage Waiver

The Damage Waiver must be paid for at the time of booking or at the time of collection. It cannot be added retroactively once the hire period has begun. 

9. Refunds

The Damage Waiver fee is non-refundable, even if no damage occurs or the hire is cancelled.

10. Policy Changes

Marple Bike Box Hire Limited reserves the right to update or amend this Damage Waiver Policy at any time. Any changes will be communicated in advance and will not apply retroactively.
